This week, the dandelions have been calling to me. I got little baskets with handles at the Dollar Tree, in anticipation of finally taking my daughter outside to pick flowers. I looked out the kitchen window at our half-acre backyard covered in dandelions, and smiled at what I knew was going to be a fun adventure. My husband sees a yard full of weeds that need to be mowed (I begged him to wait), but I see a field of flowers. What little girl doesn’t want to play in a field of flowers? After breakfast we put Little C’s sunglasses on, grabbed her little basket, and headed out into the morning sunshine.
We even got to observe bees collecting pollen. The bees were out in full force. I told her, ” Let the bees collect their pollen, and then when they are done, you can pick the flower.” I was a little nervous about the bees, but she waited patiently observing the bees at least half a dozen times, waiting for them to fly off before she picked the flower. Can you believe the girl in these pictures used to refuse to walk on the grass? Stay tuned for more adventures with Little C as we enjoy nature, hands on learning, and arts & craft projects! Also, check out what we did with these dandelions in my next post.
